Who else feels like they’re going absolutely bonkers while social distancing? When this COVID-19 quarantine first started, I’ll be the first to admit that it felt at first like school had been let out. The Bay Area hadn’t been hit TOO hard yet, but since the country was locking down, people were starting to be allowed to work from home, and my boyfriend was allowed to come home from his NHL season(he’dtypically STILL be playing right now!), so I felt like I’d won the jackpot. They always say be careful what you wish for - right? It’s been well over a month, and the summer break feeling has worn off, and I finally feel like I’m establishing a routine! Here are my 10 tips for keeping up with quarantine!

1. Establish a morning routine!

This one has been VITAL for setting the tone for my day while working from home! It was so easy at the beginning of all of this to just press snooze and roll out of bed without getting truly ready for the day. I always ended up feeling unprepared all day, so I decided to set a routine! I love to wake up, do my full morning skincare routine, then make a coffee and scoop my favorite collagen protein powder in it. As I drink my coffee, I like to sit at the kitchen table, break out my planner, and break my day out with my list of to do’s! It really helps me to have everything laid out, and gives me the satisfaction of checking things off as I do them. This is my cute little planner! I love how it has a page per day and hours listed so that I can block time off when I need to.

2. Workout

Trust me, I’m no fitness buff. I am, however, the girl that if I eat a cookie, the cookie will find a home somewhere on my body. Because of this, I’ve learned to love working out and the endorphins that come with it! What’s worked for me is doing exercise that I love. If I don’t love it, I won't do it - plain and simple. What’s been working for me is mixing it up between taking Zoom dance classes, doing the Sweat app 3 times a week, and hopping on the Peloton!

3. Netflix and chill

There are so many good shows ready to stream right now! I’m currently re-watching Greys Anatomy and loving it! Everybody has been on the Tiger King craze and it is WILD - let me tell ya.

4. Quaran-clean

I’m trying to go through my entire apartment during this quarantine and clean and organize it top to bottom! Aaron and I know that we’ll be moving out of this apartment whether we stay in San Jose or not, and I know that organizing as much as I can is going to help so much when the time comes to pack!

5. Keep it fun

Try to make time to do things your heart truly enjoys and get back to the basics! Aaron and I have broken out all of our two-person board games and pizza and puzzles has become a regular date night. Whatever you like doing, even if it feels silly, block off some time and DO IT!

6. Get some sunshine in your life

Right now, during this COVID-19 crisis, the safest thing to do is to stay home. I know personally, this has been super tough mentally since I think I fall somewhere dead smack in the middle between an introvert and extrovert! I love my home time, but I miss being out and about. The perfect thing to get my mood up has been to get out of the apartment and go on a walk around the neighborhood! You’d be absolutely amazed how much a walk in the sun can help your mood!

7. Read

One of my girlfriends invited me to join her book club and I have been so grateful for the excuse to pick up a good book! Here  is the book we’re reading now if you’d like to join in.

8. Set goals, then crush them

Whether you’ve always wanted to get into great shape, organize your home, become a better chef, no matter what it is, set a goal and do what you have to to get there. Even if it’s just one goal and you make small steps daily to get there, you’ll still achieve something at the end of this time! The key here is self discipline. I admittedly struggle with this, so I’ve been taking small steps towards achieving my goals and instilling some self discipline!

9. Self Care is the best care

The opportunities here are seriously endless! Give yourself a good face mask, use up your cute bath bombs, try a couple of makeup tutorials, do your own nails at home, light some candles, whatever makes you feel luxurious, beautiful, and relaxed. This candle is my favorite! It smells SO yummy, and it’s just plain pretty and lasts forever. I feel like i’m in a spa when I burn it!

10. Connect

This small task has become my absolute favorite part of my days and weeks. Hop on a group video Zoom call, facetime a friend or parent - I promise you’ll make someones day! Seeing other people and engaging face to face has brightened up my days SO much.

I’d love to hear how you guys are keeping up with Quarantine! Let me know in the comments below!
